Hi, Vicki!!
Yack Pack:

http://yackpack.com/education.html Link to what folks are doing with yack pack in EDUCATION!
YOu have to sign up with an email address. Teachers could sign up and allow the entire class to use that one account. So a yack migh consist of only TEACHERS (Mrs. Smith's Class, Mr. Taylor's Class) but students would be taking turns leaving mnessages on those accounts.
You set up a PACK and invite members via email addresses. They have to join to be in the pack.
You can create up to 45 packs with one email address.
Teacher can delete messsages but cannot preview before posting. Members can be deleted from a pack.
You can post a link on your website to a yackpack to publicly invite members.
This is a walled garden tool - so students cannot see and hear other public packs or messages.
You cannot upload files, pictures, or videos. Files cannot be exported as MP3's or sent to blogs...
This is a good tool for asynchronous communication - especially for students in different time zones.
Messages can be played as a conversation. Postings/messages can be REPLIED to. Multiple people can post, reply, converse.
There is a spot for adding text to the messages. No video.
This might be a good tool for asking thougth provoking questions, posting refelctions, voicemail from parents, helpdesk questions, keeping students connected between video conferences, supplementing communication in online classes or projects, add-on stories, "where in the world", trivia contests, upcoming events, foreign language practice, etc.
there is a new LIVE communication tool -
Notifications of messages are sent to your email.
